This book was really good! It's about a female trooper who gets stuck with hunting vampires because she was at the wrong place at the wrong time.

198410/10 - 1 review
 1984
Author: George Orwell
Genre: Science Fiction/Fantasy
This was an incredible book. Orwell wrote this story as a vision of the future and it is a frightening thrill that makes you think about the state of the world today. This was very intelligently written. You witness the rise and fall of an individuals mind. The end is quite depressing but written to perfection.

 1st To Die
Author: James Patterson
Genre: Mystery and Suspense
This is the first book in the Women's Murder Club series. It is about a homicide detective Lindsay Boxer on the trail of a serial killer who is killing newlyweds. During the book she has to deal with many things: a life-threatening blood disease, a new partner, and a love interest. She enlists the aid of her friend Claire who is a Medical Examiner, a young reporter and an assistant DA. It was a good book. I will probably read the others in the series.

2012 Kin Bin Tin Nah8/10 - 1 review
 2012 Kin Bin Tin Nah
Author: John Arthur \\ Miller
Genre: Action / Adventure
2012 Kin Bin Tin Nah, never did remembering the name of this book cross my mind. That quickly changed two pages in. Psychics, people in trances turning blue, and that’s as much as I’ll say about that. I’ve been following the short stories of Mr. Miller for about nine months, finding them, well written, provocative, and enticing. They’re new to someone who’s not into reading much dark fiction. However, they’ve become must reads, so it was wonderful to have this delivered to my door.
It’s fast paced, well researched and developed; a good read.
The characters are appealing, at least, “the good guys”, and the antagonists are pure evil. Alvin was the most colorful and likable, making me laugh; he’s not your hero “type”. The back and forth between the lead character, Cal and his love interest Linda, adds just enough romance to take your mind off, “the end of the world” type scenes. There was literally little time to breathe, the action keeps you going. The only disappointment is the length; some of the characters are worth knowing better.
If you’re interested in Mayan culture, those facts are fascinating. It’s not what I expected, all gore, but it is what I’d hoped for; well written. When his next book comes out, I’ll be there to read it. This writer keeps getting better and better.
If you love dark fiction and even if you don’t, it’s worth the price of admission. I'm finding it hard to give a specific genre, it's dark fiction.
This was originally an e book which has just come out in print.

 28 Days Later
Author: Alex Garland
Genre: Poetry, Plays & Screenplays
This book was wonderfully written and is fantastic for male teen readers who are into blood and gore.

This is a quick read that displays Alex Garland?s talent as an author, but doesn?t have the same punch as the movie.

If you liked the movie, then you will like the screenplay, but I would suggest seeing the movie before reading the screenplay. The actors add much dimension to the written word and the action plays out much better on screen than on paper.

 2nd Chance
Author: James Patterson
Genre: Mystery and Suspense
Oh My Gosh! This book was so good. It's the second of the Women's Murder Club series. Homicide Lt. Lindsey Boxer is on the case of some murders that appear to be racially motivated hate crimes. She gets her "club" together to solve the crime, Jill the asst. DA, Cindy the newspaper reporter and Claire the ME. The story is riveting and the excitement abounds. This book kept me entertained from start to finish. Great book - I definitely recommend it.

3005/10 - 1 review
 300
Author: Frank Miller, Lynn Varley
Genre: Historical Fiction
I just re-watched this movie last night, and it reiterated how much I enjoyed the movie more than the book.

300 is the story of 300 Spartan soldiers against thousands of Persian soldiers, trying to protect the freedom and democracy of the Greeks.

The story itself is quite interesting, but I found the way it was told in the book to be confusing and the visuals (it's a graphic novel) were dark and difficult to understand.

I'd watch the movie over reading this book.

 4th Of July
Author: James Patterson
Genre: Mystery and Suspense
This is the 4th of the Women's Murder Club series. I really enjoyed it. Lt. Lindsey Boxer is involved in a case that has her on a high speed chase. During the stop, she and her partner, Jacobi are shot by 2 teenagers. One of the teenagers is killed the other is left paralyzed. Lindsay finds herself in the center of a trial that could end her career. While awaiting trial and recovering physically and mentally, she stays at her sister's house in Half Moon Bay where there are a string of murders that could be tied to a cold case Lindsay worked on. Lindsay is on the case which make her a target for the killer. Riveting all the way through. Another good one from Patterson. I definitely recommend it.

 7th Heaven
Author: James Patterson
Genre: Mystery and Suspense
This is one of the Women's Murder Club. I didn't like this one as much as previous ones. In this one, there's an arson case that Conklin and Boxer are working on and an old murder that Yuki prosecutes. Lindsay moves in with Joe but is still very attracted to Conklin. Claire has her baby and Yuki is being stalked. I didn't like this one as much as the previous books. It was just okay.

 84, Charing Cross Road
Author: Helene Hanff
Genre: Biography and Memoirs
I never would have thought that I would enjoy a book of letters so much. This book follows the 20 year correspondence between an American writer and a British antique book store and its employees.

What starts out as a request for a book, turns into wonderful friendships spaning the years. The people come to life as thier relationships grow. This is a quick and enjoyable read.

A Bend in the Road7/10 - 1 review
 A Bend in the Road
Author: Nicholas Sparks
Genre: General Fiction
I thought this was pretty good classic Sparks. I enjoyed it, but found the plot a little predictable. That being said, because there were two narratives going on at once, and there was only a limited number of characters, Missy's killer wasn't terribly difficult to guess.
