This was such a good book. The story of two women, so different yet their lives are intertwined. This book was so moving. I was in tears many times reading it. I loved it.

So captivating. I was drawn into the story from the first few pages. It is a book everyone must read. Even though it got depressing at moments, I couldn't stop reading it. It kept me awake at night long after I'd read the last page. It is a book you 'll never forget.

I think this is one of Sparks' best novels, if not the best out of what I have read thus far. Dear John contains all the classic elements of this beloved author: romance, small town charm, etc. It seems to me that in this novel Sparks delves deeper into his characters, creating complex personalities, which in turn makes the surprising ending all the better. The book ends very well, wrapping up a quick read. Highly recommended.

This book is about a 12 year old who is kidnapped and raped. The book is told thru her point of view and the kidnapper. Very sad book but still good.

An amazing but raw look child sexual abuse from the perspective of the perpretator and the victim. The descriptions of the thoughts, feelings, and behaviours of the abused and the abuser are very real to life.<br />
A great read but not for everyone.

Just Listen10/10 - 2 reviews

 Just ListenAuthor: Sarah Dessen
Genre: General Fiction
I just read this book and its really great. Its about a girl who everyone think its so perfect and have the perfect life and family. She loses her friends and its alone in high school until she meets a boy named Owen who teaches her what she can do to improve her life. Owen its all about being honest and open about yourself, unlike Annbel (who is our man character) who keeps everything to herself.

I think readers will like this book, and some of them can relate to Annabel or Owen.

Oryx and Crake10/10 - 2 reviews

 Oryx and CrakeAuthor: Margaret Atwood
Genre: General Fiction
Years after reading this book I still think about it often, and was excited to read it again.

The first time I read this book I was a little confused by the disjointed narrative, as we learn about 'The Snowman's' past life and his current predicament. With the second reading I was able to get more from the narrative as I understood the relationships and consequences of some of the characters actions.

This book was equally as intriguing and powerful the second time. This, for me, is a highly enjoyable book based on a frightening premise.

This is a brilliant and frightening look into the future, where man's deeds have come back to haunt him.

Atwood's dark humour takes this serious subject and creates an intriguing, engaging and mesmerizing book.

The narrative switches between present day and the past which led up to his current situation. The book brings up many questions as to what our future could be like.

I found this books very interesting, well written and extremely engaging. Highly recommended.

Wrongful Death10/10 - 2 reviews

 Wrongful DeathAuthor: Robert Dugoni
Genre: General Fiction
If you haven’t read Robert Dugoni, you should. He’s my new favorite author. Dugoni writes legal thrillers, but they’re not trial books, they’re books about injustice with a legal bent. In Wrongful Death Dugoni brings back his protagonist David Sloane and his sidekick, Charles Jenkins, from The Jury Master, and I’m glad he did. Sloane is a great character, a hero with a conscience. Now living in Seattle, Sloane is approached by the widow of a National Guardsman killed in Iraq who wants to sue the government and the military. The odds are stacked against Sloane and his client because of military law, and they get worse for him and his family when he starts investigating how this soldier died. It’s not a book about the war, but the Iraq scenes are very real and frightening. Dugoni doesn’t glorify the war, he tells it straight. If you’re looking for real characters and action packed suspense, read this book.

A Patch of Blue10/10 - 1 review

A Patch of BlueAuthor: Elizabeth Kata
Genre: General Fiction
Even though this book was written in the sixties it remains on the must read lists for students due to the timely and important material. If you have watched the movie, be careful, they are not exactly the same. The story of Gordon, an African American man and Selena a white, blind teenager is indeed profound and enlightening. Selena is the product of abuse and is kindly befriended by a man of whom she is unaware of being a different race.Selena has been raised in a home full of bigotry, and written during the growing civil rights movement it truly explores the old adage, “love is blind.” This novel will always be important in the changing relationships between the races and the ideas that we have about bigotry.
The novel is a fast, but difficult read due to the subject matter. Well written, with an excellent story line, your eyes should be opened.
As a teacher, I reread it to see if it had the same impact, it did. It caused quite a stir when it was first released, and in some places, it still does. Must read for eighth grade and onward.
I hghly recommend this book.
